What is the Mayan calendar really about?

In short, it's about the evolution of consciousness. Yes, there's more to it and the bottom line is the Mayan calendar is tracking the evolution of consciousness through 9 sequentially ordered cycles of creation. That's not meant to sound mysterious. It really isn't myterious at all. You're here for a little de-mystification, right? Then please read on...

What is the Mayan calendar keeping track of?

The Mayan calendar is tracking the alternating energies of the Universal Intelligence, through 9 ordered steps which are 9 major creation cycles. These 9 ordered steps form the structure of the calendar which looks like a 9 leveled pryamid when it's laid out in 2D. (see illustration above). The 9 steps are called "creation cycles", "levels" or "'underworlds". The 9 steps aren't linear which means you wouldn't lay them out end-to-end in a linear fashion. They are instead holographic in nature. All 9 levels are nested into each other like a set of mixing bowls. That's how this calendar actually works.

Each step up the 9 leveled pyramid expands and develops the previous level with a 20 times faster frequency that continually drives evolution forward. You're probably aware that Creation stories from around the world speak of the 7 Days of Creation. The classical period Maya describe their creation story as 7 days and 6 nights of creation, which is the 13 alternating energies that move through the 9 major evolutionary cycles. In the illustration above, you see the row across the bottom numbered 1- 13. These are the 7 days and 6 nights of creation, They are also called the 13 Heavens. (7 + 6 = 13)
